Many ALL ALS Consortium staff members attended the annual International Symposium on ALS/MND in San Diego, CA in December. At the conference, staff attended various presentations and learned more about the complex biological characteristics of ALS, innovative drug and therapeutic development, and genetic and non-genetic biomarker research that is ongoing across the globe. These talks and forums increased the staff’s understanding of ALS and the future of ALS research.
In addition, staff members engaged in important conversations about future global collaborations and research initiatives with international conference attendees. These discussions are incredibly valuable because they lead to information sharing and relationship building across borders, which allows for programs, such as ALL ALS, to increase their impact and further their reach.

Throughout the symposium, ALL ALS staff presented several research posters and oversaw an educational table, which provided them with opportunities to share information and connect with researchers, clinicians, people living with ALS, and community advocates. Poster topics included the ASSESS study, the PREVENT study, the new DIGITIZE study assessments, and the ALL ALS Outreach Team. All abstracts are available on the International Symposium on ALS/MND website.

Following the conference, many ALL ALS staff members shared their deep appreciation for the event, as it afforded them opportunities to learn, grow, and connect. The symposium left staff feeling a sense of anticipation for the future of ALS research. Ultimately, ALL ALS staff bid farewell to the conference, encouraged and energized by the knowledge that people across the globe are united in their commitment to keep driving ALS research forward.
