In May, Emma Allen, a Patient Navigator for ALL ALS, attended the I AM ALS Community Summit. I AM ALS is an ALS community-led organization that focuses on providing critical patient resources and support to its members and the general ALS community and leading advocacy efforts through legislative, research, and educational means.

The Community Summit is an important community event that honors and connects people who have passed from ALS, people currently living with ALS, people at genetic risk of developing ALS, and their families, friends, and caregivers. Through the event, people are allowed to share their ALS stories, learn about community programs, events, and research avenues, and collaborate on innovative ways to advocate for and bolster the community. At the Flag Display Ceremony, Workshops, and Panels, Emma met members of the ALS community, learned more about the personal experiences of people affected by ALS, and was inspired by the community’s passion and drive for legislative and research progress. Additionally, she was able to collaborate with Cassandra Holmes, a Nurse Practitioner from Georgetown University, to spotlight ALL ALS in her Natural History Panel on May 9th.
If interested, please visit the I AM ALS website to see updates on virtual videos of the Community Summit events, including Cassandra Holme’s panel.
